OK, I just finished and really feel the need to hack out a review before I have time to forget these feelings emotions that I have.I loved this book Really, really fucking loved it But, OMG, I was SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED at the unnecessary angst, I can t give it 5 stars and I can t recommend it to everyone without caution Spoilers now, because I don t want to give anything away If you haven t read the blurb, you won t know what I am talking out, so you may want to do that first view spoil OK, I just finished and really feel the need to hack out a review before I have time to forget these feelings emotions that I have.I loved this book Really, really fucking loved it But, OMG, I was SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED at the unnecessary angst, I can t give it 5 stars and I can t recommend it to everyone without caution Spoilers now, because I don t want to give anything away If you haven t read the blurb, you won t know what I am talking out, so you may want to do that first view spoiler When the shit finally hit the fan and Samuel found out Ryan was the hired help, Samuel acted like an absolute child about the deception Of course, yeah, he s gonna be upset Anyone would be, but he started playing these games with Ryan Thinking one thing but saying another Wanting Ryan to fight for him but shoving him away instead of being a grown up and discussing his emotions and hurt And, GOD, poor Ryan He still had to WORK with Samuel and protect him since the stalker had not been discovered yet I felt terrible for the poor guy Samuel constantly thought one thing but did the exact opposite in practice Man, it frustrated the HELL out of me I was a crying mess because of it.And THEN, Ryan come back to Samuel, begging forgiveness What Um, Samuel should be the one to beg forgiveness Ugggg So frustrating. hide spoiler But, after all that nonsense, we did get a lovely HEA for the two of them I loved seeing these two fall in love for the first half of the book and I loved that they got their HEA Again, I loved this book But I am only going to recommend this to those that can handle childish, unnecessary angst There is a shit ton of it, but all is well in the end If you are up for that, please, please read this book The author did an excellent job pulling me into the story and really made me CARE about these boys Too fucking much actually

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here Personally, I found almost the first 2 3rd part of the story to be long winded and a touch of the same old same old While both Samuel and Ryan were likeable as characters, but their attraction didn t do much for me MAYBE, because they were both young only in their early 20s so that I couldn t connect with them Or maybe because despite their attraction, there was one huge secret that Ryan kept from Samuel Ryan was a bodyguard who was assigned to be Samuel s protective detail which foresh Personally, I found almost the first 2 3rd part of the story to be long winded and a touch of the same old same old While both Samuel and Ryan were likeable as characters, but their attraction didn t do much for me MAYBE, because they were both young only in their early 20s so that I couldn t connect with them Or maybe because despite their attraction, there was one huge secret that Ryan kept from Samuel Ryan was a bodyguard who was assigned to be Samuel s protective detail which foreshadowed the climax I knew that Samuel would react badly when he found out I knew that Samuel would see it as betrayal So the whole thing in the beginning, was a bit boring for me which you could see that it took me almost 4 days to get back to the story after reading it for about 25% I was simply waiting for the other shoe to drop.Actually the story picked up a bit after that incident which forced Ryan to reveal himself Yes, there was drama and angst after that, but to me, it injected the much needed booster to help me get to the very end It was very much needed and probably why I could still categorized this as my 3.The ending was not what I would call HEA And why would the chapter called as Epilogue when it was simply a continuation of the previous chapter only several minutes after To me, epilogue should at least wrap up all loose ends, a closure Here, it didn t feel like so It could be just another chapter shrugs. In addition, I am not a huge fan of how Ms Detand writes the story in alternate views but in such quick turnaround Like few paragraphs from Samuel s then switched to Ryan s sometimes only two paragraphs in between I couldn t create strong attachment to the characters that way Random musingI noticed that Dani talked about the mishaps in Ryan s age timeline Yeah, that bothered me too Because if Ryan was 24 years old, then him being 13 years old was in 2004 Meanwhile the Rwanda Genocide happened in 1994 It felt like maybe the story was written a decade ago and the author forgot to change this particular detail Also, Ryan was very apt into the movie Noting Hill Just a note, Noting Hill came out in 1999 Which means Ryan was only, what, 8 years old From the young people I know who are in their 20s, they are probablyin tune with romantic movies made in late 2000s Just an opinion double shrugs

2.75I ve read other Detand books that worked much better for me than this one This one won t stop me from reading her next one because I have liked her previous two quite a bit.Right at the start I wasn t impressed with Gary, the head of security, hiding important issues from his client Don t be surprised when your client is pulling at the bit for a some freedom when he doesn t know the extent of the danger surrounding him Protecting someone from the truth for their own good doesn t sit right 2.75I ve read other Detand books that worked much better for me than this one This one won t stop me from reading her next one because I have liked her previous two quite a bit.Right at the start I wasn t impressed with Gary, the head of security, hiding important issues from his client Don t be surprised when your client is pulling at the bit for a some freedom when he doesn t know the extent of the danger surrounding him Protecting someone from the truth for their own good doesn t sit right with me You treat him like a child and then get upset when he pushes back because you re hiding things from him Give the man the courtesy of treating him like an adult and be responsible and aware for his own safety. This whole Gary debacle just colored this story for me and it just felt like there was a cloud hanging over the events ready to burst into the massive thunderstorm when all the truths were revealed.I didn t mind the secret bodyguard action that went on here and the build of the romance between Ryan and Samuel was slow burn and quite sweet and sexy Where the story lost me was when Ryan crossed the line Ryan should have revealed his occupation to Samuel when they slept together That he didn t was a huge breach of trust that I don t know that I could have forgiven.Moving beyond that, I enjoyed the characters and the writing They were well developed and I found the writing smooth but the stalker reveal was sad It actually upset me to see who it turned to be The ending was quite nice and I like that I left the story feeling lighter Copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Hm I actually liked this quite a bit I like the author s style, as well I m not a huge fan of books with famous musicians because there s always the nose dive to corny in the end where they suddenly not only have fairy tale romance, but they re evenfamous than they were before and win tons of awards all because they came out meanwhile the rest of the story had been so realistic it hurt at times So I tend to avoid them But this one, she really didn t get into that part of their HEA, w Hm I actually liked this quite a bit I like the author s style, as well I m not a huge fan of books with famous musicians because there s always the nose dive to corny in the end where they suddenly not only have fairy tale romance, but they re evenfamous than they were before and win tons of awards all because they came out meanwhile the rest of the story had been so realistic it hurt at times So I tend to avoid them But this one, she really didn t get into that part of their HEA, which i was totally okay with, though I d probably accept it a bit better in this book seeing as Sam was a 20 y o pop star, not a 40 yr old closeted country singer But I digress. My biggest problem was when THE BIG REVELATION occurred, Sam, who d been fairly mature for his age up to that point, became a petulant 5 yr old I get being hurt, it did suck But from what he d come to know of Ryan, it seemed he d have been a bitunderstanding, even if it was hard to forgive at first But it made me really pull back from his character in the end All in all i liked the story, though Probablya 3.5 star read

This was another one of books with a rating around 3 stars for me Stuff I liked, stuff I didn t like, an epilogue that wasn t one, and then the author page well, I don t read it very often I have to confess, but here I did and honestly Instead of that stuff I would have preferred to read nothing about the author.2.5 stars

Ya know, this isn t a bad book, but nothing about it captivated me It s utterly forgettable, not one I d ever be tempted to peek at again The characters are basic and kinda boring, the premise has been done before andengagingly , and Ryan s behavior at the end was infuriating.Removed from Kindle
